Our goal in cultivating this land is to produce premium craft wines and quality tender fruit for everyone’s enjoyment, including our own. We have the utmost respect for the time and efforts that our ancestors have sown into this property over the past several generations. We continue these traditions, combining both older, proven methods alongside contemporary technology and wisdom. Nestled in the Niagara Escarpment and surrounded by layers of green orchards, vines and our own farmyard animals, Honsberger is very much a primary example of what Ontario farming has to offer. Our roots run deep into this soil while our passions course through our veins, making Jordan not only our history, but our future as well.
Honsberger wines are exclusive, and can only be purchased onsite. Having customers come to our wine shop and tasting room allows us the opportunity to speak with them and ensure that they are well educated and know exactly what they’re buying.
Kelly’s first hands-on winemaking experience was in Napa Valley at Saintsbury Winery as a cellar intern where she learned all procedures from the sorting table to bottling. Since Napa, Kelly has attended Brock University for Winemaking and has interned further with Tawse Winery and Le Clos Jordanne. She is a Winemaker at Domaine Queylus and The Farm where she focuses on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and also manages her own tiny vineyard on the Bench in Niagara.
As the Winemaker at Honsberger Estate, Kelly loves the idea of making wine from grapes off of one, and only one property (that has been in a family for generations!). Honsberger Estate Winery is in its fifth vintage and the site has proven that it is definitely suited to Cabernet Franc and Riesling. The wines are made with little intervention and are left to express the vineyard and its potential.
